Revit architecture - general; curved truss; i am using revit 09 and am trying to create a curved truss and am having trouble. it seems i can only create a straight truss. also i'm not sure of the exact curvature of the roof yet so does that mean i need to edit and change the truss family everytime i change the curve of the slope? 2009. Revit structure sketch curved beams in either a plan or elevation view. click structure tabstructure panel (beam). click modify | place beam tabdraw panel, and select a curved line tool: start-end-radius arc center-ends arc tangent end arc fillet arc spline partial ellipse place the necessary points in the drawing area to complete your curved line selection.. Create a custom truss to place within a structural model. a truss layout family consists of lines that define truss elements such as chords and webs. chord and web members are created such that their center lines (local x axis) will lie along the layout lines that you define in the truss layout family..

To create a beam that curves in two directions you will need to use an in-place mass because the revit structural beam family can only curve in one direction. the furthest edge of the roof surface from the view in figure 1 is not planar; therefore if we want to place a beam at that edge then it will need to curve in two directions..
